Yesterday, the Danish minister of Environmental Affairs, Troels Lund Poulsen, visited CoMeTas´ facilities in Bagsvaerd, Denmark. At the visit, the Minister was presented with CoMeTas´technology portfolio and also the environmental problems the technology can solve.
CoMeTas develops and produces two Cleantech Products:
• Ceramic membranes for water filtration with increased durability and performance, which e.g. makes it economically feasible and technically possible to decrease the discharge of oil into the sea from offshore oil production.
• Catalytic coatings, which lowers the regeneration temperature of the diesel particulate filter without increasing the emission of NO2 to the atmosphere, which is normally the case with catalytically coated filters. NO2 can be recognized by its distinct smell and is toxic by inhalation.
At the visit the minister initiated a discussion about some of the regulatory opportunities in the future. There is a continuing discussion in Denmark about regulations on discharge of produced water from offshore oil platforms and the minister was very interested in CoMeTas membranes for oil/water filtration, which will make it possible to lower the dispersion levels.
CoMeTas was happy to be able to inform the minister that there is actually a economically feasible solution to solve the problem with produced water.
